• About Me

To the Bride & Groom to be...

Thank you for your enquiry regarding me photographing your forthcoming wedding.

Before launching into all the detail regarding what I offer as a wedding photographer, I thought it prudent to introduce myself and talk very briefly about my style as a photographer.

I have done this for two reasons, the first is that you will spend more time with your photographer on your wedding day than you will with each other and it’s important that I formally introduce myself. The second reason is perhaps even more important than the first.

Your wedding album is the only lasting tangible item from your wedding day. The wedding cake gets eaten, the dress is rarely worn again, and the flowers die, but your wedding album will be viewed for years and even generations to come. It is this crucial that you choose a photographer whose style you like, and whose photographs represent not only the events of the day but also who you are as a couple.

If I was asked what separates me from the other photographers I would have to say my documentary images. I love the photojournalistic style of photography, and I love how it lends itself to weddings so well. In 20 years time, it won’t be the photo where the groom is bending the bride backwards out the front of the church, kissing you on the neck that you will cherish; it will be the shot where your Dad steals a last glance at you before you walk down the aisle, the shot where your Mom has her arms around her new daughter in law and welcomes your bride into the family.

Weddings present so many opportunities to ‘tell the story’, so many opportunities to show not just how somebody looks, but to show how they actually feel. That’s where the magic lies. That’s what separates the very best photographers from the rest. My albums are full of real laughs, real emotions and less emphasis on posed photos. A typical day for me is made up of around 75 percent candid images and about 25 percent posed. I find around 45 minutes to 1 hour is plenty of time for us to find a location and to create some beautifully posed and styled images to compliment the rest of the days images. I have no set packages, and I’ve tried to keep it so the majority of your decisions regarding what to do with your images, are actually able to be made after you have actually seen your photos.

I have been taking professional photographs for nearly a decade. My involvement in photography has been both commercial as I have been extensively involved in the South African advertising and film industry for many years, as well as personal as I have covered dozens of weddings. I look forward to working with and for you to preserve you most important day in the most beautifully told story of images possible.

    Kind Regards,

Travis & Prandesha’s Hyatt Hotel Wedding

Travis and Prandesha tied the knot amidst an enormous Jo’burg thunderstorm before enjoying a terrific reception at the Hyatt hotel in Rosebank. The “mad hatters tea party” theme was splendidly reproduced in the detail (and the partying behaviour of the guests!), the beautiful contemporary architecture of the hotel lobby and rooms, and the fabulous crisp Summer light (post storm) made for some really striking ingredients for the photographs.

Thanks to you both for giving me the freedom to interpret your wedding day in some fairly unconventional ways. I can’t wait to show you the rest of the photographs.

Prandesha – Traditional Blessing Ceremony

On the eve of her wedding to Travis, Prandesha had a traditional dressing and blessing ceremony at a family home. The colours, traditions, and festivities made for photographic Heaven!

Graham & Sandy Engagement Portraits

Graham and Sandy are going to have an E*P*I*C farm style vintage wedding in February next year. As my last shoot for the year we headed out to find the best venue in JHB in the best light (late Summer light) and had the best time.

Enjoy!

Jo & Sharon Wedding

Jo and Sharon’s wedding was as fun as it was wet. Their beachside celebration was a gloriously simple affair, filled with novelties (a tiered “shooter cake” being one of them) and delightfully fun moments. The best-man speeches, resplendent with props and stories will be hard to forget.

Photographing photographers can be a real challenge. Not so with Jo and Sharon. A happy couple, a lovely setting, and the acute and simple pleasure of doing so with friends and family makes a great combination for photo-worthy ingredients.

Enjoy the longer and bigger selection than usual.
